Twitter cupcakes on the first day of SXSW Interactive

These Twitter cupcakes aren't actually related to SXSW, the film, music and tech festival going on in Austin, Texas, starting today, but they are related to technology so I wanted to share them and ask you if you're doing any special SXSW cupcakes. I saw on Twitter that Baked by Melissa will be; I'll be in Austin from Saturday to Tuesday, and while Cupcakes Take the Cake isn't having a party this year, we'd love to keep up with the cupcake giveaways and any news. Yes, Mother's Day cupcakes are already here, plus kids' cupcake decorating class in London

We haven't even gotten to St. Patrick's Day or Easter, but already cupcake bakers are touting their Mother's Day cupcakes, so for the big planners out there, here are two examples of what I'm sure will be many more Mother's Day cupcakes.

If you want to learn how to decorate your own Mother's Day cupcakes, they are holding a Mother's Day cupcake class on March 27th for kids! "Our kids cupcake class will teach your child not only how to pipe using different flavoured buttercreams but also decorate cupcakes using edible glitter, dragees and sugar flowers. The class will be held on the 17th March between 12pm-2pm by our Pastry Chef Kate Donnan. Your child will enjoy a fun and creative class and at the end take home 12 cupcakes that will make Mother's Day that extra special."

CupcakeCamp Bournemouth is looking for more cupcakes and prize donations

Here's a guest post from the organizers of CupcakeCamp Bournemouth, which is coming up on March 17th!



As many of you are aware and if you haven’t already heard, Bournemouth’s second Cupcake Camp is due to take place at the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre in Bournemouth, Dorset UK on Saturday 17th of March from 2-5pm. Cupcake Camps originated in the States and bring together Cupcake lovers everywhere to enjoy and celebrate the cupcake whilst raising money for charity. Last year’s Cupcake Camp took place at the Lighthouse and raised nearly £1700 for Macmillan Cancer Support. This year the organizers Margaret Hitchman of Cake Heaven and Melanie Kiani of Simply Events are supporting the NSPCC’s Childline – now in it’s 25th year – and have Esther Rantzen opening the Camp as their Celebrity judge. They also hope to raise money for a local charity Diverse Abilities Plus through the raffle. The money is raised is through the public paying £1 - £2 per cupcake, as bakers from as far as Sussex travel with their beloved cupcakes to donate them to charity. On top of the cupcake donations there are various competitions the bakers enter to win the coveted title of Best of show and there are prizes to be won too! SO far the Cupcake tally is at 1864 but more cakes are needed!!

This year the organizers have opened the event up to include Giant Cupcakes, Brownies, pastries, cookies and cake pops so there will be plenty to enjoy for everyone!

Cupcake Camp will also have a live show to include singers and acrobats and cheerleaders, as well as stallholders selling beautiful gifts, jewellery and make up for you to treat your mum for Mother’s day the following day. There’s fun and cupcake decorating as well as creative crafts provided by Creation Station so kids will really enjoy the FREE day out!

Margaret Hitchman the organizer has been astounded at the wonderful support they have received but there’s always room for more cakes.
