Stop everything and check out these rainbow hi hat cupcakes

These are some of the coolest cupcakes I've ever seen! They're by blogger Craftstorming, who has the recipe and writes: "Below the white chocolate shell is a fluffy rainbow of marshmallow icing and hidden below that is a pot of ‘gold’ caramel. Continuing with all things Irish the dark chocolate cupcakes contain whiskey." Wow!! Via Flickr.

and what they look like on the outside:

These cupcakes deserve some sort of prize for internet cuteness! They're bird's nest lemon cupcakes with chicks hatching out of Easter eggs, and you can find out how to make them, including recipe and instructions, over at The Southern Institute, in a post by Jenn from Rook No. 17. Via Craftzine. Love love love. Happy baking and decorating; I don't see how you could make these and not smile.

From the post:

Recycle your cupcake box and turn it into a laptop cover!

That's what eco-friendly cupcake eater Jody Fox did with her Cupcake Royale cupcake box! via @foxjody. How cool is that?

And Seattle's Cupcake Royale already has incredibly cool boxes. You know what else they have? Irish Cake Bomb and Maple Bacon cupcakes, but only through this Saturday, March 17th, aka, St. Patrick's Day. They have multiple locations in Seattle (I'm a fan of their Capitol Hill bakery for the design, though I fully admit that's still the only one I've been to - must change that on my visit to Seattle in a few weeks). Get the details at cupcakeroyale.com and Cupcake Royale on Facebook and @CupcakeRoyale on Twitter.

How to bake a LEGO® inside your cupcake for Double LEGO® Cupcakes!

Blogger S'tasty was inspired by toys and found a way to create these awesome Double LEGO® cupcakes that are so full of coolness I don't even know what to say. There's detailed instructions there on how to do your own. Oh, and the LEGO® pieces on top are made of chocolate and totally edible! S'tasty also has the recipe. We've seen hearts inside cupcakes, shamrocks inside cupcakes, what's next? I am always going to be enamored of anyone who can pull this off. Via Craftzine.

chocolate LEGO®s on top!

LEGO® shapes inside!

From the S'tasty post:
It all started with a brown piece of LEGO®. To me it looked like a shiny cube of delicious milk chocolate. Wouldn’t it be great if it actually was chocolate? The cream coloured pieces could be sweet white chocolate and the glossy black pieces a rich dark chocolate. If only that were possible, I thought. Well, with the help of some magic blue stuff, I made my chocolate LEGO® dream come true. It was pretty simple to make them too.

However, once I had made my sweet chocolate specimens, they seemed a little small and insignificant. What I really needed was a vehicle to carry my chocolate LEGO® and lift them up for the world to see. So, I decided on a simple vanilla cupcake and some creamy vanilla icing as a platform for my glorious chocolate LEGO®. The problem was though, the vanilla cupcake idea seemed a little lame and boring. LEGO® is so fun and colourful, so I figured the cupcakes should be bright and vivid too. I saw this great idea, on a blog on Valentine’s Day, where the blogger made a cupcake with a red cake heart concealed inside. So I borrowed this idea, but modified it a bit. I placed a colourful LEGO® cake piece inside my cupcakes. Now, I really had a cupcake worthy of my chocolate LEGO® and all my LEGO® dreams were complete. I really have to stop imagining everything can be made into food….what next!

Periodic table of cupcakes at book party for periodic table themed novel Itch by Simon Mayo

UK author Simon Mayo has a new novel out called Itch, about the period table of cupcakes, so what better way to launch his book party than with a periodic table made out of cupcakes to celebrate? Via @RebeccaMPike on Twitter. These aren't the first periodic table of cupcakes, but they are extremely adorable and whoever made them deserves a giant round of applause!

If you're a periodic table fan too, here's more information about the book: "Itch is an accident-prone, science-mad 14-year-old boy whose explosive hobby is collecting the elements of the periodic table. However, when he discovers a new element things take a turn for the downright dangerous." Read the first chapter at The Guardian.

Cupcakes on fire! Flaming Baked Alaska cupcakes with brandy by "cupcake arsonist" Sprinkle Bakes

Check out these outrageous and inventive cupcakes by blogger and "cupcake arsonists" Sprinkle Bakes, who has instructions and the recipe! Here's a teaser on how she makes them fire up: "To make the blue-flame magic happen, turn down the lights and sprinkle a couple of tablespoons of warmed brandy over each meringue-coated cupcake." They're a followup to her chocolate cupcakes with flaming strawberries, which I've also included a photo of below. Wow! Kudos to her for daring to break open the flames for the sake of a cupcake.
Just call me the cupcake arsonist.

This is the second time I've intentionally set fire to this cutesy confection. What's the appeal? Maybe I feel the cupcake could use a break from its curlicued reputation. Or maybe it appeals to my inner juvenile delinquent who loves to play with matches. All I know for sure is, this is one incredibly delicious show-stopping dessert! It's a perfect dramatic finale for any dinner party.
