Awesomeness alert: Easter cupcake kebabs with Peeps and Rice Krispie treats!

Firstly, let me say that this week I discovered the blog Warm Sugary Goodness, and will be posting more from them soon, and that made me happy, and now they've taken cupcake kebabs to a new level with their Easter cupcake kebabs which include mini cupcakes, Peeps and Rice Krispie treats! So much fun on a stick. Love these. Also, they seem relatively easy to make (I've never made cupcake kebabs, though I have eaten my fair share) and so adaptable to whatever you have handy and want to include.

Free cupcakes tonight in San Francisco, plus red velvet and red rose Valentine's Day special, by Mission Minis

San Francisco, you're in luck - tonight mini cupcake company Mission Minis is celebrating their 2-year anniversary with a party and free cupcakes at 3168 22nd Street! Exciting. Here's the scoop, via Facebook:

This February marks two years the Mission Minis bakery has been operating in San Francisco. We are celebrating by throwing a party Saturday, the 11th of February, giving away our signature cupcakes and serving libations gratis to all patrons stopping by until supplies are exhausted. Mobile food vendors including Brass Knuckle, We Sushi, Mama's Empanadas and Clairesquares will be setting up in front of the bakery located on 22nd Street (between Mission and Capp).

They've also got this Valentine's Day red velvet/red roses promotion going on again this year:

Blueberry crumble mini cupcakes at Baked by Melissa; flavor of the month!

In addition to the limited edition Fashion Week Betsey Johnson cupcakes they're selling, New York City mini cupcake company Baked by Melissa has blueberry crumble cupcakes as their special flavor for January. As always, they're $1 each, and I found it an odd flavor, good for people who adore blueberries, but not as good as their other flavors of the month, though the cake was very pretty and I like the crumble on top, for flavor and texture. Here's some pictures from the amazing event that was Cupcake Challenge LA! I'm still in the process of uploading pics and revising my notes so I'll have a full report complete with tons of pictures for you all later this week!

Lemon lime loveliness and donuts atop mini cupcakes by G.I. Cakes

I've been busy being on vacation in Hawaii so I haven't had as much time to blog about all the fabulous cupcakes I got to indulge in and the wonderful people who came out at our meetup, but I will in full this week, plus will be working on interviews with the many wonderful bakers I met, and I already am planning a return trip to Honolulu, maybe in November for my birthday.

Some of the cupcakes that most impressed me were the lemon lime mini cupcakes by G.I. Cakes. I love lemon curd, and these were the perfect mix of sour and sweet, with little candies dotting them. I kept bringing people over to these and saying "You have to try this" and delighting when they enjoyed them as much as I did! The donut mini cupcakes were also utterly adorable and delicious; I've seen and eaten donut cupcakes, but never mini ones. Also the minis were perfect for a party like that because it allowed us to sample more flavors (I ate 2 of the lemon ones though!).
