Cherry blossom and spring flower cupcake prettiness

More cherry blossom cupcakes are coming soon! These are by Le Dolci Cupcakes and Cakes in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, via @LeDolci on Twitter, from a custom order. Visit their Facebook page or ledolci.com for more information.

They also teach cupcake classes; on March 25th will be introduction to cupcake decorating, and March 31st is introduction to spring cupcakes. I also like the sound of this class: Gucci, Chanel, LV, Tiffany & you – Designer Cupcake Class!

Here's the description of the cupcake decorating class:
At this absolute beginners class, suitable for anyone at any age(!), you will work with tools that professional cake makers use to create your own cupcake works of art. You will work with fondant and professional food colouring to make simple shapes and decorations for your little bundles of goodness. After working with fondant, you will then experiment with our mouth watering buttercream icing. Using the deliciously smooth buttercream icing you will test out different nozzles and colors to make wonderful swirls, seashells, grass and more! Class time -2 hours.

You will have a fun time in a relaxing atmosphere, have gained confidence in working with fondant, food colouring, cutters and piping bags and be leaving with a set of 12 fabulously decorated cupcakes that your friends and family will be suitably impressed by!

Ruffles, roses and hearts on springtime wedding cupcakes

Pretty flower cupcakes by Starbird Bakeshouse in Nelson, British Columbia, Canada, who can be reached at starbirdbakehouse at yahoo.com or 250-551-4681. Via Flickr. Beautiful! The purple ones are my favorites, not just because purple is my favorite color, but because there's so much going on, but it's subtle, and each cupcake is different from the other next to it. You can also keep up with them on Facebook.

How to make St. Patrick's Day very bright rainbow cupcakes with buttercream shamrocks: video, plus Cadbury Creme egg, Glee and Beatles cupcakes

This is a detailed 12-minute video about how to make very bright rainbow cupcakes for St. Patrick's Day, by blogger Jennifer Johns of Cupcakes, Cookies and Cardio (what a great name!). She also has her own business, JJ's Custom Cakery, so if you don't want to make them, you can order your own in Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada by contacting jenn at jjscustomcakery.com or 778-517-1415. You can see more photos on Facebook. (They also showed us how to make the popular Valentine's Day heart cutout cupcakes in a video)

This is how bright they are, at least when made by JJ's Custom Cakery (and you, presumably, if you use the right amount of food coloring):

More about JJ's Custom Cakery:
JJ’s Custom Cakery is the East Kootenay’s newest and most professional bakery. We are a home based business, offering clients all over the Kootenay’s the tastiest and most beautiful cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and other baked goods. JJ’s started in March 2011, and has loved serving the East Kootenay’s since! We bake out of a health certified kitchen so you can be assured that your cake was made in the hands of a Food Safe baker, and in an inspected environment.
While I'm posting about them, here are a few other cupcakes, Easter cupcakes (including a Cadbury Creme egg cupcake!), a cupcake bouquet that would be great for Mother's Day, more rainbows, hi hat cupcakes because I can never resist them, and the same goes for the Glee and Beatles cupcakes, all from their Facebook page.

Mint chocolate Cthulhu, Zelda red velvet, Carcassonne, chess and many more game cupcakes by Geek Sweets at Game Summit 2012

Who better than Ottawa, Canada's custom dessert maker Geek Sweets to attend the Game Summit 2012 and make special cupcakes? These are just a few of Geek Sweets' special geeky cupcakes. I am not a gamer and hardly know what many of these are (I had to Google Cthulhu and Carcassonne), but I still think they're awesome and love that they were at a gaming convention.

As a chess player, that one is my favorite. And s'mores. S'mores forever; that's pretty much my favorite cupcake flavor ever so if there is ever a s'mores cupcake I spy, I will eat it. Or, in this case, blog it. The last one is an homage to Hello Kitty, and maybe doesn't exactly go with the rest visually or thematically, but is so adorable and looks like I'd love it that I couldn't pass it up. It's "a strawberry whipped cream filled, strawberry marshmallow frosted fluffy vanilla cupcake" called "The Hello Kitty." All via Geek Sweets on Facebook and on Flickr. Contact them at jenny at geeksweets.net or call 613-809-GEEK and visit Geek Sweets at geeksweets.net for ordering information.

Neil Gaiman Sandman character cupcakes Death, Dream and Delirium with custom macaron toppers!

By Montreal, Quebec custom cupcake maker Cupcake et Macaron (via Twitter), cupcakes inspired by popular author Neil Gaiman and his graphic novel series The Sandman! (Read more about it here.) Specifically, Little Endless macarons on cupcakes. Find out more about Cupcake et Macaron on Facebook.

See more in this blog post, with this explanation (see more photos there too):
This is pure self-indulgence. The first time that I read Neil Gaiman's Sandman (I've read it many, many more times since) was one of those experiences that I just knew somehow changed me. You don't often read stories that are so well written, and with such lovely characters. I just adored it, and if you haven't read it yet, you really, really should! With that in mind, it really was just a matter of time before my love for Sandman met my love of everything sweet and delicious! I will eventually do all seven siblings as fondant figures, but for now, I made my favourites: Death, Dream and of course, Delirium!

Pretty hearts baked inside a cupcake for Valentine's Day

Free cupcake alert, streetcar popup shopedition: tomorrow in Toronto

From Post City, the scoop on tomorrow's free cupcake giveaway in Toronto. If you go, we'd love a photo, either email us at cupcakestakethecake at gmail.com or Tweet us @cupcakeblog - this is definitely upping the cupcake popup shop ante!
For the few who don’t tune in to W Network (i.e. straight dudes), Heather White and Lori Joyce are Gemini-award-winning, Dragon’s-Den-triumphing, Canadian reality TV royalty right now. Their “docu-soap,” The Cupcake Girls, is the story of how the best friends build their B.C. cupcake franchise, Cupcakes by Heather and Lori. Put simply, the show rocks. But how good are the cupcakes? Torontonians will soon find out, because the girls are taking over a streetcar this Saturday. Starting at 5 p.m., the pair will give out cupcakes to unsuspecting TTCers in a totally unique pop-up.

What we know is this: the outside of the streetcar will look normal, and will stop at normal stops. But there is no set route. The plan is to drive anywhere the tracks will take them and take on unsuspecting TTC riders at each stop.

The inside of the car is a different story. It will be decorated to look like a Cupcakes by Heather and Lori shop, with a TV crew, organized Toronto fans, Heather and Lori and of course, cupcakes, inside.

“We wanted something different, especially having competition in the city,” Joyce says. “We’re going to have our classics, and a special cake that will tie in with Toronto.”

Classics include the Blue Hawaii, which is coconut cake with blue butter cream and sprinkled with coconut, and the Sweet 16, a vanilla cake with pink vanilla butter cream topped with pastel sprinkles.
Here's the official Facebook event page.
